Bernedoodles
While we believe that bernedoodles are fantastic dogs, we encourage anyone looking to add a new member to their family to do their research.
The Bernedoodle is a crossbreed dog that is a mix of a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. This hybrid breed is known for its intelligence, loyalty, and affectionate nature. Bernedoodles come in various sizes, including standard, miniature, and toy, depending on the size of the Poodle parent.
Their coat can range from straight to curly and is typically low-shedding, making them popular among individuals with allergies. Their grooming needs vary based on coat type, but regular brushing and occasional professional grooming are typically required to maintain their coat's health and appearance.
In terms of temperament, Bernedoodles are friendly and social and enjoy being part of a family. They are known to be good with children and other pets, making them an excellent choice for households with multiple animals. Due to their Poodle ancestry, Bernedoodles are often highly trainable and can excel in obedience and agility activities.
With their sturdy build and moderate energy levels, Bernedoodles are well-suited for both indoor and outdoor activities. Regular exercise and mental stimulation are essential to keeping this breed happy and healthy.
Overall, the Bernedoodle is a versatile and loving companion that combines the best traits of its parent breeds, making it a popular choice for individuals and families.

Bernedoodles must be groomed regularly. In general, the tighter their hair is curled, the more often they need to be combed. Keeping knots out of your doodle’s coat is very important for their health. It can cause them a great deal of pain to leave them with matted fur. If not kept up, the matting can require bernedoodles to be shaved. We recommend that you visit Doodle Doods to learn more about grooming your doodle.

A word about shedding, first all dogs shed. Some dogs less than others. Typically the more poodle the less they shed. An article written in DoodleDoods by Lundve (2024) discusses Bernedoodle shedding by generation, noted that F2b Bernedoodles are about 37.5% Bernese mountain dog and 62.5% poodle making them less likely to shed than a F1 doodle.
We have found that our F1b bernedoodle does not shed as much as our f1. However he requires much more time grooming.
